A Nebulizer is a device that turns liquid asthma medicine into a fine mist (aerosols) of a size that can be inhaled into the lower respiratory tract.
A Nebulizer consists of the following parts:
- A compressed air machine
- A medicine cup
- A plastic tubing
- A Facemask or Mouth-piece
Nebulizer can be used by the help of mouthpiece or by facemask. The following steps to be followed to use Nebulizer so that as much medication as required can be inhaled.
General instructions to use Nebulizer:
Insert Medication into the Nebulizer before use:
To insert medication into the Nebulizer, follow the steps as:

Open the cap |

Fill the cup with medication as prescribed by your physician Be sure that the medication does |

not exceed the liquid site line of 6 ml (6 cc). |

Close the cap. |
 |
Connect the mouthpiece. |
Note: The mouthpiece is to be used for oral inhalation only.
Follow the instructions to use the Nebulizer:

Fill the medicine cup with the prescribed amount of medicine. |

Connect the tubing |
 |
Sit upright to make deeper breath possible |
 |
Holding the medication cup upright, insert the mouthpiece or put the mask up to the face. |

Turn the machine on |
 |
If possible breath deeply and slowly through your mouth |
 |
Tap the medication cup if the content begins to sputter before the medication is gone. |
